Malachias — Book front (modern spelling)

The Prophecy of Malachie

Malachie (whom S. Jerome, and some others think to1 be Esdras) prophesied last of the twelve, after that the Temple was reedified. He reprehendeth both Priests,2 and people, for that they did not offer their sacrifices with sincerity; foresheweth the rejection of the Jews, and calling of the Gentiles by Christ. Before whose first coming shall be one Precursor: and another before his last coming to judge.
